Behold, the North American Austin Marina. Proving that, yes, you CAN make a Morris Marina much, much, much worse. And to think in Canada, you could’ve had a lightly used Mk3 Cortina instead around that time. Or gangrene. Either would be far more preferable than a Marina with Crimson Chin bumpers .

Disclaimer: This star you have just recei ved is solely for the crimson chin reference. I am not in any way endorsing or showing approval of the Marina.

I’ve heard the Marina was quite competitive in 1949

According to my mother my maternal grandfather had a Cortina and loved it. They got rid of it long before I came along. He died when I was 10. I think I got my love of obscure cars from him. Probably also my love of scotch, cigars, and Fox-platform Fords (they had an LTD Crown Victoria that I got to ride cross-country in once).

LOL. I think if you gave someone from 1949 a ride in a Marina they'd say it was a p.o.s.

It *is* possible to make a Marina into a good car. It just takes quite a bit of work...
